Justin Bieber's Vanity Fair cover looks set to be the US magazine's worst-selling issue in 12 years, according to reports. The teenage pop star may have shifted millions of records and attracted 10 million followers on Twitter, but it seems there is a limit to his powers. Many readers were reportedly surprised when the 17-year-old singer was featured on the cover of the eminent US publication in February. According to US
reports, the February issue sold 246,000 copies — making it the magazine's worst-performing issue since Will Smith was on the cover in July 1999. The figures also make it Vanity Fair's third worst circulation since its July 1993 issue, which featured Harrison Ford on the cover. "Who knew 12-year-olds didn't buy magazines?" said a Vanity Fair spokesperson, writing in The Hollywood Reporter. And it appears that even teen magazines have seen diminishing returns by featuring the Never Say Never star on their covers. Bieber's October 2010 Teen Vogue cover sold 121,054 copies, which is some 12 per cent below the magazine's 2010 average, Women's Wear Daily reported. Stats are not yet available for his appearance on the cover of Rolling Stone Magazine's March issue.
